I've started getting calls from this law firm, Shafritz and Associates, PA, regarding what they say is an old debt. They're calling from a Florida number and have sent a couple of letters to my home address.
Has anyone else dealt with them recently? I'm a little nervous because I know they are a debt collection law firm that can actually file lawsuits. The calls are persistent and I'm not even sure the debt is valid or mine at this point.
I plan to request a debt validation letter in writing to make sure everything is legit before I consider paying anything or talking to them further. Does anyone have experience with this firm or tips on how to handle their collection attempts? I want to make sure I don't say the wrong thing or ignore something that could lead to a lawsuit or wage garnishment.
Any advice on how to proceed would be appreciated. Thanks.
